Laura Roberta Cutler, 44, was ordered held on $75,000 bail after being accused of biting off two-thirds of her ex-boyfriend’s lower lip as they were kissing in bed. The woman has been charged with second-degree domestic-violence assault.
Deputies were called to a house in White Center, an unincorporated suburb south of Seattle, and found Thomas J. Brummel, 49, on the front porch, much of his lower lip missing and his face and neck covered in blood, King County sheriff’s Detective Scott Tompkins wrote in a probable cause affidavit.
Brummel said he and Cutler kissed several times when, without provocation, she bit off his lip and spat it out, deputies said. Doctors at Highline Hospital were unable to reattach the lip and said the man will likely be permanently disfigured.
Brummel and Cutler live at the house with two other renters, all of whom are recovering from drug addiction and agreed to share a “clean and sober” home. Tompkins wrote that Cutler was clearly drunk when detectives arrived, and “her rage was evident and uncontrolled.” Neither of the other residents witnessed the attack, Tompkins wrote.
“Had it not been for Brummel’s yelling … ‘She’s a devil woman!’ and running up and down the stairs, none would’ve known the altercation had taken place,” he wrote.

The Supreme Court in Japan has decided to hold an appeal hearing over a lawsuit filed over a custom seizure of a photo book containing nude male genitals at Narita Airport in 1999, opening up for the possibility it will overturn the previous Tokyo High Court ruling, a Kyodo News reports states.
The photo book in question, “Mapplethorpe” by renowned U.S. photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, had been published in Japan in 1994 by Tokyo movie distributor and publishing house “Uplink.” When the president of the company, Takashi Asai, brought the book with him to the United States and later tried to return with it to Japan, it was seized by custom officials at Narita Airport.
Asai is now seeking 2.2 million yen in damages, and is demanding that the court rule the seizure invalid.
At the first instance, the Tokyo District Court, it was ruled that the import ban on the book should be retracted and that the government should pay 700,000 yen in damages to the publishing house president. The Tokyo High Court however overturned that ruling, saying the book “unnecessarily provokes sexual appetite and is an obscene graphic work that goes against a sense of morals on sexuality.“
A similar lawsuit also filed by Asai on another Mapplethorne book ended in 1999 with the Supreme Court acknowledging it is legal for custom inspectors to ban the import of photo collections that can be deemed “obscene”.
The very same book has also been the subject of censorship in the U.K. – in 1998, it was confiscated by police from a Central England University student who was writing a paper on the works of Robert Mapplethorpe. The library from which the book was borrowed was told the book would have to be destroyed.
Another Mapplethorpe book, “Pictures,” was seized from an Australian bookshop by police in 2001.

Norway’s largest erotic chain store (www.kondomeriet.no) was forced to change the labeling on products such as penis pasta, candy cuffs and chocolate body painting, to comply with Norwegian food regulations.
The Norwegian food safety authority, whose goal it is to make sure consumers have healthy and safe food, conducted a surprise inspection at one of the chain’s stores and found that several products violated food labeling regulations, top-selling tabloid VG reported on Tuesday.
"We were a bit surprised to have the food safety authority on inspection. Food is not really our core product," Kjersti Antonsen, a sexual adviser in the store, told VG.
Products containing food must be marked with a Norwegian label, listing all ingredients.
"We have panties, bras, handcuffs and suspender belts made out of candy," Antonsen said, adding that the store will comply with the regulations and label all its food products.
The food safety authority also said the store also breached rules of importing erotic candy, which should be reported to authorities at least 24 hours before arrival.

Censors in Singapore have banned the highly-anticipated Microsoft game Mass Effect due to a human-on-alien, girl-on-girl love scene. Mass Effect is the first Microsoft video game to be banned in Singapore by the Media Development Authority.
The scene starts with a conversation between two females, one human and one alien. As the music swells, the human places her hand on the alien’s cheek. There is a close-up of them leaning in towards each other, then a Titanic-style shot of a hand pressing up against a window.
The Australian Classifications Board has already rated Mass Effect MA15+, and the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) rated it for ages 12 and over. The BBFC’s description notes that "the single sex scene is brief and undetailed," and explains that the scene is only triggered by a particular series of choices. A heterosexual version of the scene is shown if the player’s character is male. (click to read more…)

Are you in a sexless relationship? According to experts, you are if you have sex less than 10 times a year. So what do you do about it? And do you want to do anything about it?
Some couples are happy with the intimacy they share, regardless of if it involves sex. The only time a sexless relationship becomes a problem is if at least one person is unhappy about it.
It’s been my observation that when people find themselves in sexless relationships, they essentially became resigned to their fate. They claim the reason they stay together is for the kids, or for the finances.
At the end of the day, it’s because they fear change. Some people simply live out a sexless existence and others choose to seek sexual fulfillment outside of the union. Both scenarios are emotionally and mentally unhealthy and are going to come to a head at some point.

A thrill-seeker killed himself by pulling a condom over his head to try to give himself a sexual high, an inquest has heard. Gary Ashbrook was discovered naked on his bed alongside three empty cans of nitrous oxide he used to blow up the contraceptive.
The 31-year-old had been experimenting with the drug, also known as laughing gas, with friends he had met online, said housemate Michael Young, who found his body. Mr Young told the inquest: "He had been putting a condom on his head for two to three months. He learned this through some friends of his for sexual gratification."
The housemates spent the previous evening eating pizza and watching the Eurovision Song Contest on TV with friends at their home in Newhaven, East Sussex. Friend Paul Beaton said: "I knew he was into the sadomasochism bondage scene. I’m sure this was an accident."
A post-mortem examination revealed that Mr Ashbrook, who had been HIV positive for seven years, died from asphyxiation. East Sussex coroner Alan Craze, recording a verdict of death by misadventure, warned against the dangers of taking nitrous oxide. He told the hearing at Eastbourne magistrates court: "If people use nitrous oxide, in the same way as any other drug, and it is abused, it carries with it considerable dangers."
